This was my first year blogging, and it has been a thrill to find such a diverse and insightful audience. In particular, I want to acknowledge my fellow bloggers who have given me feedback and linked to WeaponizedCulture.org throughout 2008. Each comment and link has been invaluable, but I want to give special thanks to Blogs of War, The Dark Visitor, Thoughts of a Technocrat, Mike at The Osprey Publishing Blog, and Tim Stevens at Ubiwar. These sites have contributed a large amount of traffic to my blog, and it has been an honor to receive links from blogs that I had been reading long before I ventured into this space.
Starting today, there will be a number of changes in store for WeaponizedCulture.org. In coming weeks, I will focus more on my own commentary. Posts such as “AK-47 versus M16″: Arms Transfers and Techno-Cultural Realignment, FISA, Joker the Terrorist, and the State of Exception: Sorting out The Dark Knight’s Murky Politics, and Weapons Technology and ‘Modernist’ Social Change generated the most traffic by far, and there will be more articles like these to follow. Also, I will be sharing more of my ongoing research including conference papers and publications in the near future.
Lastly, I will be getting away from my computer and doing more reporting “in the field.” My first foray will be the 2009 SHOT Show in Orlando, Florida where I will be reporting on the latest in small arms design and interviewing industry insiders.
Once again, I would like to thank the supporters and readers of WeaponizedCulture.org.
Erich, it’s a pleasure. You’re exploring a rich vein of interest, and I’m looking forward to more commentary in 2009. Keep it up! Now, if only I could muster such resolve for my own stuff!…
Thanks for the kind words Erich and I look forward to watching your informative blog grow into 2009…best wishes my friend. Keep up the good (blogging) work.
Not a problem Erich – it’s always a pleasure to drive traffic to your site – which remains a fantastic collection of fascinating content! Best of luck for 2009!
